Mathematical Modeling of the response of MPN patients to IFNα
Gurvan Hermange presented to an audience of biologists the motivation behind using mathematics for modeling hematopoiesis. Based on its recent work, he explained how a tailored-made mathematical model could be used to decipher the mechanism of action of a given treatment (IFN alpha) for patients suffering from rare blood cancers (Myeloproliferative Neoplasms). Furthermore, he illustrated how mathematical models could be further used for predictions or treatment optimization.
